Sparkling Sato is a fish farming project with an aim of mobilizing, organizing and serving small-holder farmers in rural areas Musoma district located in Mara region. Tilapia is decreasingly unable to meet the rising demand as natural water bodies of Lake Victoria are overfished. There is high community unrest, scrambling and illegal fishing in Lake Victoria.

We are rearing tilapia fish in cages in Lake Victoria as the most sustainable and promising project that can restore Tilapia in the region. Sparkling Sato Farming, is bringing floating cages technology that will ensure fast fish growth by providing quality and balanced feeds and reduce their stresses as a results of moving long distances searching for food. Cage farming involves keeping fish in a type of enclosure and involves holding them captive within an enclosed space whilst maintaining a free exchange of water. Cages are usually floated in rafts, and either anchored to the lake/reservoir/river bottom, or alternatively connected to shore by a wooden walkway.

Fish plays an important role in fighting hunger and malnutrition. Fish is not only a source of proteins and healthy fats, but also a unique source of essential nutrients, including long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, iodine, vitamin D, and calcium.
